The MacDowell Music Club offers two kinds of music scholarships: Continuing Education Scholarships, which are non-auditioned scholarships awarded in the fall, and Achievement Scholarships, which are auditioned for and awarded in the spring. The scholarships are for students up through 12th grade, depending on the particular scholarship.
These music scholarships are for prospective or current music students who are in financial need. Teachers may fill out an application recommending only one current or prospective students to receive this scholarship. The purpose of these scholarships is to pay for private music lessons to those students who otherwise may not have the opportunity.
Scholarship monies are awarded to the students in October, as checks made out to the teacher, and are approximately $200–$300 per scholarship. Scholarships included in this category are the Renick Ross Scholarship and the MacDowell Scholarships. One or more scholarships are awarded out of this fund each year at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
See the paper reference application for details. This year is our pilot year for the electronic application form. Applicants are strongly encouraged to use the electronic form.
Because of additional funds this year, we are relaxing some of the criteria that are listed on the applications. Please take note of the following:
1) Applications must be submitted by October 2, 2015.
2) A student may now receive a scholarship in consecutive years. If he or she received a scholarship last fall, you can apply for that student again this year.
3) A teacher may apply for more than one student.

Scholarship monies are awarded to the students in February, as checks made out to the teacher, and are $300 per scholarship. Applications in this category are entered into a scholarship pool from donors.
Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2017.
To raise money for local scholarships, the MacDowell Music Club holds a variety of fund raisers. The club raises money through the sale of pecans and a non-event fundraiser mailing.
